The Tirthan and Uhl Rivers in the Kullu and Mandi districts of Himachal along with river Beas are probably one of the few surviving habitats of the Trout especially the Rainbow Trout.The upper Ganges is known for its Mahasir where we set up camp .On the Beas and Tirthan a fishing permit is issued by Hp Govt. There are about half a dozen Trout farms in the Kullu valley the Pioneered by Hp Govt and Norwegian support and the others are privately owned.
